Yesterday, Google announced that it is refining the way online marketing is being represented.
Here are three ways that Google is impacting Minneapolis online marketing for business:
Personal Results: finding information is now going to include our own information (personal & shared) that only you will be able to see (we can toggle on/off what is shown to others)
Profiles in Search: In both autocomplete and in results. This will allow you to find people that are close to you or you want to follow.
People and Pages: Finding profiles and Google+ pages related to specific topics or areas of interest. The goal here is to provide quick ways to connect to your desired community.
What does this mean to online businesses?
People searching for information related to your business will now receive information that includes friend's experiences just as in real life. What is the game changer here is that if your not already involving your 'self' and business functions in social media, your behind the curve. This will negatively impact search results where you show up. What search results happen across the street at the neighbors house will be different at your house. This is getting more and more complicated. Keeping up is effort, ignoring it is going to ensure that you are missing opportunities with your target market.
For people search, the reality is that there is now a shorter path to connecting to that person. Everyone is available in one way or another, the internet as Google+ writes it will improve connectivity to individuals, businesses, community. Gee, you think this was their plan all along? Yeah, thought so.

I think that many see this as a minor change, yet the impact of connections already in place online also impact what results show up. The need for testing content, pages, cta's, offers is even stronger and will be challenged moving forward.
